Maximize help for your child

You know how much children change as they grow. Between the ages of six and 17, they’ll go through some of the biggest changes in their lives. Their bodies, their minds and their emotions are all making the transition from childhood to adulthood.

Those changes can be confusing, scary and frustrating — for your child and for you. About 10 percent of young people have additional challenges during this time:

  • frequent mood swings
  • unusual fears
  • excessive anxiety
  • acting out against others

Every child goes through some of these things now and then. But if your child has felt or acted this way for a long period of time — a year or more — it could be the sign of complex emotional and behavioral challenges, sometimes referred to as Serious Emotional Disturbance.

It’s not a sign that you’ve done anything wrong. And it doesn’t mean your child is “bad.” It’s an illness. While it can’t exactly be cured, the right treatment and support can help minimize its symptoms.

Saginaw MAX System of Care is here to offer that help and support. Learn more:
